Christmas Crafts

I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas! I certainly did. I got super spoiled this year, had lots of good food and was surrounded by people who love me, so  yep...God is good!! I made several presents this year and wanted to share a few of them.

Picture #1: This is an afghan I made for my in-laws. #2: These are scented candles made in old tuna cans, painted with pictures of my daughter glued around them and Mod Podged. They were a big hit! #3: This is a hooded scarf I made for my sister. #4: This is a scarf that I gave to my step mom. #5: This is a crocheted bee I made for my daughter. The final product had button eyes though...I liked them better than the embroidered ones.

I also have three new items to list in my store...but there will be more! I will be listing them in January, so please keep checking back!

Still not much happening

No sales so far this month. I was kind of thinking I might get a few more because of Christmas being so close...but nope. Nothing. I got one item relisted and still have yet to list anything new. Maybe that's why the lack of interest from others?

Anyway, I finally figured out how to put etsy tabs on my facebook fan page and my personal page. Maybe that will get people looking.

I just thought I'd stop in for a minute and let people know I'm still around :-)

Merry Christmas!!

Do you know what day it is?

Why Tuesday of course! And time for another installment of "Tell it all Tuesday" where I tell you all about my week.

My mom went in for her surgery on Thursday and all went well. She's doing pretty good and doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain. We've all been trying to help her out whenever possible with cooking, chauffeuring and feeding her cats.

Last night was the Christmas program at my daughter's school and I enjoyed watching the kids perform. I also have a niece and two nephews at the school so it was nice getting to see them all. Here's a picture of my daughter sitting on Santa's lap afterward:

She's a cutie!

Anyway, it's been snowing more here and getting pretty cold. It's a good thing we have plenty of wood or we'd be freezing here without a furnace!

I'm happy to report that the afghan I've been working on is just about finished...yay! Then I'm hoping to get something made for my store so I can actually have something store-related to blog about!

Here are my weekly movies:
--Miracle on 34th Street
--It's a Wonderful Life
--The Nightmare Before Christmas
--The Night They Saved Christmas
--Midnight Clear
--National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Sensing a theme here?

It may seem like I'm slacking, but...

it's just because I really am :-) I've let a few items in my shop expire...and I'm not sure I'll relist them. They're items I've never really liked that much and am not sure they'll sell...however, I have sold items I personally wasn't fond of in the past, so you never know.

I probably won't get much done in the shop until after Christmas anyway, when I have a little more time. I'm working on one last project for a Christmas gift and it's taking much longer than I expected...so at this point I'm just hoping to get that finished in time.

Anyway, just thought I'd stop by for a quick update...I really hope I can post pictures of something new soon!!

I know it's not Tuesday, but...

here's the tell-it-all Tuesday anyway. My week went okay. I made two sales--my mother-in-law did some shopping in my store. I got to have two Thanksgivings which was great. We had Thanksgiving at our house again this year and had lots of fun, then we went over to the in-laws on Saturday for a second Thanksgiving dinner.

I got absolutely nothing made for the shop this week...I've still been working on Christmas gifts. I'm working on a ripple afghan right now and it seems to be taking forever.

My dad visited for awhile today. He lives in the next state so I only get to see him a few times a year. They were on their way to Nevada and stopped in for an hour or two.

My mom's mastectomy is tomorrow, so I'm really praying that everything goes okay with that, and that they're able to get all the cancer.

On that note, I'll get going...but here are my weekly movies:

--Spencer's Mountain

--My Sister's Keeper

--Star Trek

Tell it all Tuesday!

This week has been okay. My mom was supposed to have surgery on Friday, but she had to postpone it...not sure now when it will be. Instead she went shopping at Walmart with my siser, Karla and I. I'm pretty much all done with my Christmas shopping now. Yay! I think this is the earliest I've been finished shopping before.

Saturday, our internet went out so I had to wait until Monday to get it going again. I hate not having internet! I even put my shop on vacation mode because I hated the idea of someone buying something and me not being able to get it shipped in time. Also, I didn't know when we'd get it hooked back up. There was a chance we'd have to wait until the day after Thanksgiving. But now my store is up and running again, just waiting for swarms of holiday shoppers.

I'm getting everything ready for Thanksgiving. The family is coming to my house again this year, which means a whole lot of work! Today I'm focusing on getting my carpet shampooed. But I also need to make sure both bathrooms are cleaned, and the bedrooms are presentable...it's coming together slowly, and looking nice around here! I borrowed a big table from our church as well as some chairs. I also have a Thanksgiving tablecloth and really nice centerpiece. It's looking quite festive around here!

This week, I managed to view these movies:

--Star Wars: The Clone Wars
--Here Come The Littles
--28 Days

I'm also nearly finished reading:
--Left Behind--Assassins

That's it for this week, God bless!!

3 new items listed today!

I'm very pleased with my three latest items! I have two crocheted Christmas cowls in my new "Winter Wonderland" series and also a crocheted hooded scarf. All three items can be found at www.jenniferwhitedesigns.etsy.com. Check them out!

Tell it all Tuesday!

This week has been pretty crazy, with crocheting Christmas gifts and getting a few items done for my shop. I also found out this week that my mom has breast cancer and is having a mastectomy this Friday. Because of that, I don't have much else to talk about...because anything else that happened this week seems small and not worth mentioning.

I have a couple new items to list in my store...I'll probably get that done tomorrow, as long as I have time to get the photos taken. Anyway, looks like that's it for this week...sorry for such a short post. Here's the short list of movies I watched this week:

--G.I. Joe--The Rise of Cobra

--Angela's Ashes

God bless, everyone!!

Crocheted Cuddly Bear

Finally, something new in my shop!! This cute crocheted bear started out as a Christmas gift...but then I realized I really didn't need it. I had enough gifts for everyone. So after debating whether to keep it for myself or not, I decided to list it in my store. Make sure to check it out at www.jenniferwhitedesigns.etsy.com

Tell it all Tuesday!

Lately I haven't been posting much besides my Tuesday ramble...but I'm taking a little break from my store so I can make things for Christmas. I'm hoping to get something made to list in the shop, but for now I'm just relisting what's already there. This week I relisted six items and I'm hoping someone buys them!

I had some knitting trouble a couple days ago and it resulted in saying bye-bye to a perfectly good poncho that was half-done. It was a nice poncho too, it had a cabled piece that went around the neck and the poncho part flared out from there. The problem was two pairs of circular needles broke in the process and I didn't have another pair of needles to put it on...plus I dropped a ton of stitches in the process. I think I managed to get the stitches picked up, but without another pair of needles, I just gave up. (I realize I could have just placed all the stitches on scrap yarn...but for some reason, I'm just now considering that option...now that it's too late.)

So, I swore off knitting for the week and I'm focusing on crochet. I've made a couple of neat scarves, one of them with a hood. Not sure what I'll be making next, but guaranteed I'll be hooking it!

Hmmm, what else happened this week? I found out my sister-in-law is pregnant, so now I'm expecting three new nieces or nephews! Both my sisters are pregnant too, so the family is definitely growing!

I also had the flu this week...for about three hours. Anyone ever have the three hour flu? Me neither. This was the real deal though. Headache, chills, nausea...the whole bit. Then my hubby prayed over me and I took a nap. When I woke up I was all better. Praise God!

Well, I think that's it for this week. As  usual, here's my list of movies (which will be getting smaller from here on out because we switched to a smaller NetFlix package)

--Paul Blart: Mall Cop

--Knocked Up

--Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

--Coraline

God bless everyone! Have a great week!

Tell it all Tuesday!

I can't believe it's Tuesday again! I almost forgot all about this place! This week has been okay, but challenging. Friday we found out about a possible health problem with a family member, so we're all praying it turns out to be nothing. Also on Friday my daughter was having behavior problems at school so I had to take her home instead of her going to the school Halloween party. So far this week she seems to be doing okay at school and at this very moment she is working on crocheting a scarf.

Halloween was a lot of fun. We took Chloe trick-or-treating and then headed over to the church for a Harvest party. We played games and did a lot of laughing. Chloe won third place for her costume--Princess Leia, and her dad came dressed up as Darth Vader. It was fantastic.

This week I've relisted a couple items in my store, but have made nothing new...I'm really trying to get some stuff made for Christmas and I've been spending some of my time focused on getting my novel rewritten. Last year I participated in the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) which takes place every November and challenges you to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. I finished the novel and am just now getting around to the rewrites. So, that's taken a little bit of my time. I will try to get something new for the shop soon.

This week, I watched these movies:

Defiance

Faith Like Potatoes

Little Miss Sunshine

Have a good week everyone!!

Princess Leia

Here's my daughter as Princess Leia. Like her "buns?" They were made with two crocheted bowls with a strip of knitted cable sewn around each, with a crocheted chain holding them in place, and tied under her chin. I thought it worked out pretty well, but I have no idea what we'll do with them now that Halloween is over. So, it's into the costume box they go! I just thought I would share them, because I was pretty proud of them!

Tell It All Tuesday!

It's here again! That magical time when I tell you what's been going on with me this week! Ah, who am I fooling? No one actually reads this thing, do they? Anyway, my week started off fantastically with two sales from my mother in law! If I've counted correctly this is her eleventh purchase from me.

The weather is getting colder here in Idaho...the last couple days have been really windy so I haven't even been able to walk to go check the mail...which is pretty much the only exercise I get anymore. However, it has been nice to be able to drive my car. It's had a lot of problems lately I think we've got it all fixed up.

I FINALLY got the Princess Leia buns done for Chloe's Halloween costume, but I haven't taken any pictures of them yet. I'll probably do a special Halloween post and get a picture on here then. I've tried them on her and they look really cute. I think they'll work quite nicely.

Now, I'm working on some stuff for Christmas, and I think I have a pretty good start. I have something for pretty much everyone except the kids. I have 8 kids on my list not counting my daughter. I'll either make some of the items, or just go crazy at the dollar store.

I've been able to get a few items listed in my store, one of them--a fancy fur scarflette--sold a few hours after listing it! I also made another sale a couple days later--a knitted jump rope.-- So things have been great this week with 4 sales, a finished Halloween costume and Christmas gifts flowing nicely from the needles and hooks.

And now for the list of movies I watched this week:
--The Host
--The Incredible Hulk
--Hannah Montana--The Movie
--Dan in Real Life
--The End of the Spear

Well, that's it for this week, God bless!!

Blooming Ruffles Neck and Ear Warmer

This neck and ear warmer started out as a turtleneck capelet...but I began the first row of increases for the capelet part and really liked the ruffle effect and decided to have a ruffled neck warmer. Then, while trying it on I noticed this also makes a rather nice ear warmer as well. I added a little crocheted flower really adds a lot of style to this piece. I really like it!

In my honest opinion, I think the only drawback to this is that the acrylic yarn makes it slightly stiff, but it will definitely relax a little once washed. But with the low price tag of this I'd say it's definitely worth it! Make sure to check it out in my shop!

Fancy Fur Neck Warmer Scarflette

This scarf has multiple uses, as described in the listing. I actually made this months ago and set it aside because I wasn't sure what to do with it...but I've grown quite fond of it, and thought maybe others might like it as well. Looking for a scarf that can transform from a cowl to a scarflette to a short scarf? This can also be a mobius neck wrap. Please come check it out!

Tell it all Tuesday!

This week has been a little crazy. My dad and step mom came to visit last Monday and stayed until Sunday. My brother and sister both celebrated their birthday on Sunday as well. No, they're not twins, my sister was born on my brother's 3rd birthday. We had a birthday party for them at my house after church. It was noisy, there were kids running around everywhere and several conversations were flying around the room at once, but we all had fun. Plus, everyone LOVED the potato soup that I made for the occasion.

With all the commotion, I haven't had much time to work on Chloe's Princess Leia costume for Halloween, but I'm really hoping that I can get that done this week.

Also, we've just signed up for NetFlix, so I will include a list of movies I've watched this week.
--Let the Right One in
--The Man Who Laughs
--Wallace & Gromit's "A Matter of Loaf and Death"
--The Bucket List

And sadly, I haven't worked on anything for my shop this week. I'm really trying to focus on Christmas, but I'm hoping I can get a small project done soon.

Well, I think that about does it for this week. God bless everybody!!

Tell it all Tuesday--Monday Edition

Lately, I've been in the habit of posting only when I have a new item for my store...and then I've just been dropping in a photo with minimal info. That's got to change. So, I've stopped by to let you all know what I'm working on. (If I have any readers left, that is)

Well, Halloween is coming and my daughter wants to be Princess Leia. My husband has been nerdifying her with Star Wars. Anyway, so it's become my job to create the funky cinnamon roll hairdo. So, I'm working on a knitted head band that has two cable knit buns that will hide her pigtails and also give her a Princess Leia-ish look, I hope.

Also, my dad is coming to visit today, so I probably won't be working on anything for my store for a little while. I still have some earrings that I could list that have been sitting around for a couple weeks. We'll see.

Anyway, I'm thinking this could be a blog feature. A weekly time when I come and tell about what's going on with my life and my crafting. I'm definitely one for cutesy names, so this will from here on out be a Tuesday feature and it will be called: Tell it all Tuesday. Hopefully it won't disappoint!

Diagonal Stripes Crocheted Clutch Purse or Handbag

This cute handbag/clutch is my absolute favorite! It's small enough to take anywhere, but large enough to fit most essentials. This bag is also my first attempt at sewing a liner and I think it turned out pretty good. Of course, the hand stitching does scream "hand made" but hey, isn't that the way it should be? Most of the liner was machine sewed, making it very durable and strong...but it was hand stitched into the purse.

Anyway, enough of my babbling. To check this piece out please visit www.jenniferwhitedesigns.etsy.com

Santa Ana Cranberry Wrap

I finally got some pictures of this wrap and listed it on etsy today. The yarn I used for this wrap was so nice to work with because it's so unbelievably soft. The yarn is from Needful Yarns. This particular yarn is called "Santa Ana" and is in the color Cranberry. Please feel free to check this out in my shop at www.jenniferwhitedesigns.etsy.com.

Also, I've made my first ever trade on etsy! I'm excited to get the adorable bag I ordered from Cumorah's Closet. Please check out her store...it's small, but growing!

Woodsy Coasters - Set of 4

Apparently blogger won't let me put pictures on here and I have no idea why...however, I do have another item in my store. A set of 4 "Woodsy" coasters. They're made with acrylic yarn and are machine wash and dry.

Hopefully I can come back later and add pictures when blogger decides not to be a nuisance.

Anyway, check out the coasters at www.jenniferwhitedesigns.etsy.com

Red Licorice Scarf

I bought this yarn a few weeks ago and finally got around to using it. This is 100% wool and variegated both in color and thickness. I LOVE this scarf and was thankful that I had enough left over to make myself a neck warmer. This is definitely a scarf for the fall/winter season, as it's very toasty. Custom Order--4 Wristlets

These wristlets were a custom order for my mother-in-law. She wanted to give them out as gifts and I finally finished them! Since my mother-in-law is my best customer I was happy to hear that she was really pleased with them. These wristlets are made with 100% cotton with a zipper closure. These seem to be pretty popular because now I've made 6 of them as custom orders. There still doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in the one I have listed in my store though...strange. Anyway, I better get going, but wanted to share the pictures from this custom project.
