Spring and Summer Capelet

I love capelets, and have made two of them for myself. I just knew I had to make one for my store for spring and summer. This one is the most unique one I've ever made, and I'm really pleased with how the lacy pattern turned out. I really didn't know what I was doing, and didn't have a pattern all drawn out beforehand.

This capelet is perfect for people who have shoulders that are prone to burning in the summer time, or for those who get cold easily. I wear mine a lot in the evenings, or when I want to dress up a tank top a little.

Make sure to check this out in my store at www.jenniferwhitedesigns.etsy.com

Weekly Favorite--Atchison Art!

I've been admiring these coasters for quite some time. I think the idea of making coasters out of old magazines is quite brilliant. So of course, I needed to find out more about this lovely artist!

Q. How long have you been crafting?
A. I have always loved to make things and explore my creative side. I realized the possibilities were endless once I became a homeowner and took notice of all the bare walls. Once I learn how to sew there will be no stopping me, lol.
Q. How long have you had an etsy store?
A. I opened my Etsy Shop, AtchisonArt, in November 2008, just under 4 months.
Q. Where do you get inspiration?
A. Inspiration comes to me from many things in many forms. My love for my family, nature, pets, art, etc. all inspire me to create different pieces.
Q. Lastly, how in the world did you come up with the idea for those crazy coasters?
A. I happened to read an article about coasters and bowls that were made from rolled up newspaper. I thought I would try to make similar coasters, however, I substituted the newspaper with magazine pages as a way to throw color into the piece. For a final touch, I added yellow wavy ribbon along the edges as a colorful embellishment. When I first embarked on this project, I had no idea just how time consuming these coasters would be to complete...you would be surprised. I made a set for myself as well and discovered they are also useful as a place to rest a candle on.

Thank you so much, Atchison Art, for allowing me to feature you this week. Everyone, please check out her lovely shop here: www.atchisonart.etsy.com

Pearl and Stone Necklace

This stone pendant necklace is my latest jewelry creation. I told myself I was going to cut back on the jewelry...as it there seems to be entirely too much jewelry on etsy, but I couldn't resist. I had this stone pendant laying around and really wanted to use it...so here it is. For sale at www.jenniferwhitedesigns.etsy.com!!

Starting off the Summer Fun with this...

An awesome knitted jump rope! I just added this to my etsy store. It's made with cotton yarn and done in an i-cord that measures 111 in. long! This jump rope is perfect for adults, but could also be used by bigger kids as well. I made one for myself as well and use it for exercise. It works great! To purchase or for more information, please check out www.jenniferwhitedesigns.etsy.com

Latest Projects

This cute red handbag is the latest item in my etsy store. To purchase or find out more, go to www.jenniferwhitedesigns.etsy.com.

This striped blue makeup bag was a custom order with a zippered closure. I made this for a lady at church.

This striped green wristlet was my first attempt at sewing in a zipper. The zipper came from an old pair of jeans and it turned out so well, I kept the bag for myself. Although I am planning on making some to sell in the future.

Weekly Favorite--JPATPURSES!

This week, I had the good fortune of meeting JPat, who makes these wonderful wallets and handbags. I just loved this wallet and felt it worthy of being my weekly favorite. Here's the question/answer with JPATPURSES:
Q. How long have you been crafting?
A. I have always enjoyed doing many different types of crafts and when I was young always had some project going. I started sewing when I was in my early teens then gave it up until about 10 years ago!! Sewing has always been my fabric type of crafting because I love fabrics!!
Q. Where do you get inspiration?
A. I get most of my inspiration from trying to create the most functional and efficient items as possible. I love trying to make items that make life more organized. One of the reasons I developed my special bat quilt interfacing technique is because I wanted structure and form to my creations, thus making them easier to use. Thanks so much, JPat for allowing me to feature you this week!!!

Custom Order--Green Drawstring

This cute little drawstring is a custom order from the etsy alchemy pages. The buyer wanted it green with wooden beads on the ends. I'm still awaiting final approval, but hopefully it's a hit. This is a knitted i-cord that's about 50 in. long and only took me about an hour or so to knit. Hope she likes it!

Weekly Favorite--NicaRose!

This week, I found the shop: Nica Rose, and really fell in love with this cute little purse. I just about choked when I saw the super reasonable price as well. So, I just had to ask a few questions and find out some more about this seller!

Q. How long have you been crafting?
A. I have been crafting since I can remember, making doll clothes out of old socks and drawing my own paperdolls. I made my first apron in 7th grade in my homemaking class and little did I know that I would be making them again 40 years later.

Q. How long have you had an etsy store?
A. I have been on Etsy now for a couple of years and love being there.

Q. Where does your inspiration come from?
A. My inspiration comes from my daughter Elizabeth who herself is on Etsy. [erosasjewelry] She always comes out with cute ideas for my sketching and anything else I want to work on. Plus when I get a chance to visit her in San Francisco we visit a wonderful fabric store.
I am also a member of the Apronista on Etsy which consist of all us apron making people.

Thanks so much, Rose for allowing me to interview you and for letting me feature you this week!

Custom Order--Dark Blue Baby Hat

This cute baby hat was a custom order for a lady over in Virginia. I found her request for a baby hat in the etsy "Alchemy" pages. Alchemy is a place where buyers can request certain items they would like, and crafters bid on the opportunity to make the item. This was my first time bidding on an alchemy item and I'm glad I did! She's already paid for the hat and it's ready to be shipped. Yay!!

The Seaside Hues Bracelet

This is the latest jewelry piece in my store. The nice clear picture of it is thanks to my new camera, which I've been playing with a lot today. This necklace was an experimental piece, as I was learning a different technique in beading. I'm sure this is pretty basic, but I literally knew nothing about beading...I just did whatever I felt like doing with it with very little know-how. I did however find a pretty good tutorial in one of my old crafting books and this bracelet resulted. To see this bracelet in my etsy store, click here.

Sold!

These wrist warmers have found a home! They sold yesterday to my mother-in-law. So I'm pretty excited to get my second sale in such a short period of time.

Just a quick update, I did get a new camera today, that was generously given to me by my sister. So I'm hoping to retake the majority of my etsy pictures and get my shop looking better. So make sure to check back pretty soon and let me know what you think!

Also, today is March 1st, so make sure to keep the entries rolling in for my March giveaway!!!
